Josie Hunt is a street photographer whose practice focuses on the everyday. Her works often explore one’s awareness of their environment through the use of aesthetic compositions. The photographs in the “Why Frame?” exhibition are from her current project which is titled “Ephemerality”. These works explore the often unappreciated qualities of light and shadow in the everyday environment. Hunt’s work challenges the boundaries of the frame by depicting the dismissed aspects of the everyday in unique compositions, presenting these banal subjects as art. Proving with these compositions that what is beyond our frame of awareness and appreciation is just as important as what is within it.
